Martha SPIEGER

MARTHA MOON SPIEGEL, 96, died at 11:25 p.m. August 6, 2004, at Lima Convalescent Home. She was born October 19, 1907, in Cleveland, Ohio to Orville and Lydia Kelly Moon, who preceded her in death. On September 3, 1932, she married Charles R. Spiegel in Erie, Pennsylvania. He died October 1, 1996. Mrs. Spiegel graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor's degree. She earned her master's degree in education from The Ohio State University in 1961. She taught in Chelsea, Michigan, Lorain, Holmes Liberty Schools in Crawford County and Bucyrus City Schools. She taught Latin, English, history and was also a drama coach. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority, Daughters of the American Revolution, Eastern Star in Bucyrus, Kings Daughters, AAUW and was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientists, Lima, Ohio. She was also a member of the Mother Church in Boston. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Dr. Marilyn R. Spiegel of Lima, Ohio; two grandchildren, Michele (Peter) Prichard of Lima, Ohio and Bradley A. (Janet) Spiegel of North Hampton, New Hampshire; and five great grandchildren, Eric Prichard of Lima, Ohio, Erin Prichard of Lima, Ohio, Ben Spiegel of North Hampton, New Hampshire, Jenny Spiegel of North Hampton, New Hampshire and Jacki Spiegel of North Hampton, New Hampshire. She was preceded in death by a son, Charles J. Spiegel; five brothers, George Moon, Paul Moon, Albert Moon, Allan Moon and William Moon; and a sister, Ruth Moon Crehore. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The ministers Wanda Werking and Laura Rado-Reader will officiate. A committal service will begin at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Oakwood Cemetery, Bucyrus, Ohio. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
