MARY ELIZABETH JORDAN, 92, died at 5 p.m. January 30, 2005, at Beverly Healthcare. She was born October 24, 1912, in Lima, Ohio to John Henry and Clara Aurilla Holten Twining, who preceded her in death. On January 1, 1938, she married Lokey Veldred Jordan, who died November 19, 1970. Mrs. Jordan retired on April 29, 1983, as a licensed practical nurse from Lima Manor Nursing Home, after seven years. She had also worked at Lima Memorial Hospital for six years and as a private duty nurse for several years. She was a charter member of Community Church of the Nazarene and was attending Lima Baptist Temple. She received her nursing degree in 1951, from Paul Haynes Vocational School, Birmingham, Ala., where she was president of her nursing class and, for a short period, president of the Birmingham Chapter. She was an avid collector of pigs. Survivors include her caregiver, Mary Klapp of Elida, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Henry Twining, William Twining and Harry Twining; and an infant sister, Julia Twining. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Gary Hohman will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Beverly Healthcare Activity Center.
