Matthew S. Bice, 52, died July 10, 2026 at his residence near Spencerville, Ohio.
He was born in Lima, on March 13, 1974 to Michael Lee Bice and Martha Baldwin.
His estranged wife Rose Skiver passed away Feb 25, 2025. Having no children of their own they would make sure their nephew Joey Brown would always have fun activities to do and feel loved.
He had spent the last 4.5 yrs with the love of his life Tonya Ward. Again, Matthew’s loving and fatherly instincts would come into to play when he cared for Tonya’s children Jezeriah Ward and Garret King. His lifelong love and kindness to others was really given back when he became a grandfather to LeiLani McGee. If she had asked for the moon, he would have figured out a way to get it.
He attending Jennings School (Spencerville) in grade school. He was a graduate of Apollo Career Center/Spencerville High School. Being a bigger guy at Apollo he earned the nickname, “Moose” whenever you heard that out in public, you knew it was a someone he had gone to High School with.
He worked at several factories; in his spare time, he helped his father deliver Power Shoppers. His most rewarding job was through IHS, caring for those who have disabilities. He worked for Goodwill Industries for nearly 20 years.
He loved gaming, reading and playing pool. He lived across from the Plikard Farm on Defiance Trail in rural Allen County. He loved the property and taking walks on the trail in the woods behind his house, he had a great love for nature. For a time, he took care of several bee hives. He converted an old chicken coop on the property into “The Drunken Lamb” complete with a pool table, small bar and an eclectic décor. Ultimately Matthew loved spending time with friends and family.
He was a member of the Order of the Oddfellows Deep Cut Lodge #311
Survivors include the love of his life and fiancé Tonya Ward; her children Jezeriah Ward and Garret King; grandchild LeiLani McGee. His sister, Michele Bice; niece, Brianna Jade Butts. His Uncle, Les and his Aunts, Denise Bice and Mary Coolidge. Many beloved cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and many aunts and uncles.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sat, July 25, 2026 from 11-1 with a service at 1 at the Northwest Ohio Field and Stream Gun Club on 11910 Kolter Rd., Spencerville, OH 45887
Memorial Contributions can be made to the family for funeral expenses.
