Nancy J. Steele age 77 of The Villages, Florida and Westerville, Ohio passed from this life and entered her Heavenly home on February 18, 2024, from Alzheimer’s. She was born on January 1st, 1947 (Lima New Year’s Baby) to the late Ira "Ike" and Lillian McKinley. She was preceded in death by her sister Kay Byrne. Nancy grew up in Shawnee, graduating in 1965. Nancy was married 11/11/67 and is survived by her high school sweetheart Alan Steele. They were married for over 56 years and together for more than 60 years. She is survived by her sons Chad (Jill) and Matthew (Denette) and 5 precious grandchildren: Collin, Keaton, Emma, Spencer and Delaney. Also survived by special cousin/sister Susan Shambarger, niece Debbie Walcutt, nephew Steve Byrne, sister-in-law Karen Cavins, nephew Zachary Cavins (Erica and family), niece Suzannah Seibert (Nick and family), cousins, wonderful high school friends and many others.
Nancy's greatest joy of life was her family, and she was so proud of them. Nancy stayed at home raising her boys until they started school then went back to work. She worked for over 15 years for Allen County Children’s Services as an intake coordinator. With 3 men in the house, Nancy made sports a focal point and attended many games of her boys and later her grandchildren. Alan was transferred to New Orleans while the boys were in their last years of college. Nancy enjoyed moving to New Orleans and loved new adventures. They moved four more times before retiring (Florida, Illinois, Ohio and back to Florida). Wherever she moved, Nancy worked in childcare taking care of many babies that were the loves of her life. She liked to travel and was fortunate to see a lot of the U.S. and Canada. Nancy enjoyed the life of being a snowbird and the life God gave her. She was a woman of devout faith, love of Jesus, read the Bible every night and attended a Catholic Church close to her residence (St. Charles when living in Lima).
