Paul Ely

Paul Ely, 79, passed away at 2:57 p.m. on July 23, 2026, at Roselawn Manor in Spencerville.

Paul was born on March 12, 1947, in Kentucky. On December 21, 1981, he married Juanita (Music) Ely, who preceded him in death on March 28, 2022.

Paul worked at Oakwood Prison for over 30 years. He enjoyed playing ball with his sons when they were younger, and in his later years, enjoyed working with computers and programing. Paul also enjoyed loving his wife, Juanita, until the end of her life.

He is survived by his children: Rick Kodak, David Kodak and Tracy Shafer; 4 grandkids; many great-grandkids; 1 sister, and 2 brothers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita; and a daughter-in-law, Tina Kodak.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Lay-Servant David Belton will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Lima.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to donor’s choice.
