Rhea Rolsten, 91, passed away at 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center.
Rhea was born on February 13, 1932, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Earl Hanthorn and Aldia Eileen (Hawkins) Foster. On January 17, 1951, she married Paul Eugene Rolsten, who preceded her in death on March 27, 1974.
Mrs. Rolsten was a graduate of Lima South High School. She had worked as a shoe salesperson at The Leader Store and also worked at Yazels Flower Shop. She graduated from the Lima School of Practical Nursing in the class of 1976, then went to work at St. Rita’s Medical Center as a LPN until she retired. Later after retirement she helped at Siferd Funeral Home and Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Rhea enjoyed a plethora of artistic venues, most recently quilting, but also painting, sewing, embroidery, and multiple other crafts. She was blessed with a large family that were lucky to have her for an amazing ninety-one years.
She is survived by her children: Dr. David (Nancy) Rolsten of Huron, OH, Lisa Kreitzer of Columbus, OH and Thomas (Barb) Rolsten of Findlay, OH; grandchildren: Megan Edwards and Sara Marsh, with whom she shared a special relationship, and eleven others; twenty-four great-grandchildren; sister, JoLane Van Buskirk of Elida.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Amy Campbell; son, Glenn Rolsten; brothers: Dallas Foster, James Foster, Richard Foster, Addison Foster and Stephen Foster; half-sister, Anita Derringer; and infant sister, Mary Ella Foster.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Monday, June 26, 2023, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at the funeral home. Lay-Pastor Dave Belton officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The James Cancer Institute, in honor of her daughter, Amy.
