Richard Davis

Richard E. ?Dick? Davis , 89, died at 4:56 p.m. May 17, 2009, at St. Rita?s Medical Center. He was born March 22, 1920, in Lima, Ohio to Royden Jones and Eleanor Faye Detrict Davis, who preceded him in death. He married Kathryn M. Schafer, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Davis had been an automotive painter. He was a 60-year member of Fort Amanda Lodge 705 Free & Accepted Masons. He was a 1938 graduate of Lima South High School. Survivors include two sons, Richard E. ?Dick? (Gloria) Davis II, of Largo, Florida, and David L. ?Dave? Davis, of Lima, Ohio; two stepdaughters, Sandra J. (Paul) Swick, of Lima, Ohio, and Barbara (Bill) Vance, of Florence, Kentucky; a stepson, Dennis E. (Lynette) Main, of Lima, Ohio; a sister, Kathy Martin, of Elida, Ohio; and five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elaine R. Young Davis; two brothers, William R. Davis and Eddy L. Davis; three sisters, Ruth Griffith-Mawhorr, Marjorie Basinger; a sister, Joyce Ann Dungan; and a grandson, Richard E. Davis III. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Mark Tisch will officiate. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
