Richard "Dick" C. McCobb

Richard “Dick” C. McCobb, (91), passed away at 5:40 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Lima Convalescent Home.

Dick was born on April 5, 1934, in Detroit, MI, to the late Kenneth McCobb and Blanche (Conway) McCobb Schirmer. On May 11, 1957, he married his beloved wife, Louetta J. (Hyde) McCobb, who preceded him in death on October 4, 2022.

Dick worked in Patient Accounts at St. Rita’s Medical Center for more than 30 years. He retired in the late 1990s.

Dick began playing piano around 1940, when he was 6 years old. What started with formal lessons eventually transitioned to self-teaching, driven by his passion for learning and creating. He also classically trained, attending and graduating from three schools of music, including The Palestrina Institute in Detroit, MI. Dick was also a ventriloquist for many years.

Though the rest of the family didn’t inherit Dick’s musical talent, they’ve always been inspired by his passion. That passion extends to the wider community. Most recently Dick donated a digital piano to North Park Community Church in Lima, ensuring others could continue to enjoy the music that’s defined his life. “It’s a gift I’ve used my whole life,” Dick says, “ And I don’t want to give it up.”

He is survived by his daughters: Marie (Tripp) Tyner, Karen Tallman, and Cheryl (Kevin) Carr; son, Paul (Debby) McCobb; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, at North Park Community Church, Lima, Ohio. The funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. Pastor Jim Baker will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to North Park Community Church.
