Richard Lee Wall Sr died peacefully sleeping on August 20, 2023, at 4:30 a.m. at his home in Lima.
He was born January 24, 1947, in Charleston SC, to Warren Charles Wall Sr and Loretta Mae (Brown) Wall, who are both deceased. He married his devoted and loving wife Cynthia (Crawford) Wall, who survives, on August 17, 2004, in Bluffton, Indiana.
Other survivors include his 2 children and 1 stepson, Richard (Kim) Wall Jr. of Chesterfield, Michigan, Tiffany (Jon) Long of Cumming of Georgia, and Robert (AnnMarie) Wolfe. He has 1 brother, Carl Wall and 1 sister-in-law, Ruth Schwartz Maize Wall. Richard had 12 grandchildren whom he was most proud of: Shelby Carroll, Hanna Ford, Evan Wall, Megan Wall, Landen Rogge, Brady Rogge, Aiden Rogge, Leo Rogge, Juliette Long, Kaitlyn (Chariti) Hunt, Kaleb Wolfe, and Brady Rudashill. He also leaves behind other close family, nieces, nephews, and cousins, that held a special place in his heart.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 1 grandson, Dustin Carroll; 2 brothers, Warren C. Wall Jr and John T. Wall Sr.; and 2 sisters-in-law, Carol and Doris Wall.
After traveling the world as a boilermaker, Richard retired in 2005 from the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers of 50 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and served during Vietnam in 1966-1968. He was known for his love of Michigan, whether it was visiting or watching Michigan play football on Saturdays. In his earlier days, he spent a lot of time hunting and fishing up there. He also enjoyed being outside with his dogs, Barley and Shadow, gardening, and woodworking projects. Richard loved most of all, spending his time with his wife and family.
Services will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, 920 N. Cable Rd in Lima, Ohio. Burial will be at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Cridersville, where military graveside services will be conducted. The viewing will be on Monday, August 28, 2023, from 2 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Mercy Health Hospice, for the exceptional care they provided Richard and his family during his final weeks at home.
