Robert “Bob” Brinkman Jr., 77, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2026, at his home.
Bob was born on June 5, 1949, in Lima, Ohio to the late Norbert W. and Alma (Baumgartner) Brinkman. On September 28, 1993, he married Margaret “Maggie” (McDonald) Brinkman, who survives in Cridersville.
Bob graduated from Lima Central Catholic in 1967. He served four years in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era. Bob worked for the Lima Fire Department as Lieutenant Captain Platoon Chief and retired as Assistant Fire Chief in 2001. He was member of the American Legion and lifelong member of St. Rose Catholic Church. He also was a longtime volunteer for Christian Corner Community Center.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Kathryn Brinkman of Lima and Kyle Brinkman of Neunkirchen, Germany; stepchildren, Julia LePage and Joseph (Karen) Snyder; grandchildren: Tyler (Paige) Sites, Noah (Hannah) Sites, Alexis Brinkman, Addison Brinkman, Jenna Snyder, Bryan Snyder, Ivy LePage, and Luke LePage; 3 great-grandchildren; siblings: Patricia Hughes, Gene (Judy) Brinkman, Anita Meredith, Jim Brinkman, Chuck Brinkman, and Mary Ellen Grothaus; and sister-in-law, Miriam Brinkman.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Dorothy Heck, Richard Brinkman, Julia (Howard) Brickner, and Donald Brinkman; and brother-in-law, Paul Grothaus.
The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. with a rosary starting at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. The funeral mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at St. Rose Catholic Church. Father David Ross will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartbeat of Lima.
