Robert L. Day, Jr. Cridersville, Ohio, age 83, Passed away peacefully at his home on January 13, 2026. He was born on February 13, 1942, in Abington Township, Pennsylvania.

His parents, Robert L. Day Sr. and Margaret McLean Day preceded him in death.

Survivors include his brother J. Alan (Carol L. Tank-Day) Day of Fairfax, Vermont and cousins, Marnie (Les) Morris of Longmont, Colorado; Peter (Linda) Gordon, DDS Cleveland, Ohio, and Linda (Al Deceaed) Zimmerman, Cleveland, Ohio. He was preceded in death by cousins, Donna D. Agan and David Day.

Other family survivors include J. Wesley Tank-Day, nephew, of Merchantville, New Jersey; and Kate Tank-Day, niece, of Barre, Vermont; Bob Morris, special nephew, Kingman, Kansas; and Ginny Morris, special niece, Longmont, Colorado.

Special friends include Becky (Lonny) Wheeler, West Unity, Ohio; Deanna (Chris) Ladd, Delphos, Ohio; Melissa (Ryan) Wurst, Fort Jennings, Ohio; and Crystal Miller, Lima, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his dogs Sandy, Cracker, BeeBee, Foxy, Abbie, BeeSan and Daisy.

Bob served for 47 months in the Air Force as a Transportation officer during the Vietnam War. Permanent duty stations were in Kansas and Thailand.

He retired on September 1, 2006, after 32 years in the banking industry, including work as a Bank Examiner, Credit Administrator, Credit Underwriter, and Business Banker. Locations included Cleveland, Bryan, Lima, and Celina.

He was a long-time member of Kiwanis. He first joined the Kiwanis Club of Bryan on July 25, 1980. In addition, he joined the Kiwanis Club of Lima in January of 1988; Celina, in December of 2001; and rejoined Lima in October of 2025. He also was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Kenton during 2018-2020.

He served in a variety of leadership positions at the Ohio District (treasurer), Division 2 (Lt Governor), and Club (President of Lima), (Treasurer of Bryan, Celina, and Lima), and (Secretary of Lima and Kenton). He was recognized as being a Distinguished Lt Governor, President, and Secretary several times in recognition of achieving mandated goals for each position.

He served as a member of the Ohio District Kiwanis Foundation Board, the Ohio District Kiwanis Finance and Structure Committee, and Ohio District Kiwanis Board.

Favorite committee positions included Co-Administrator of the Ohio Builders Clubs and Service leadership Chair of the Kiwanis Club of Lima.

Recognition includes the first B. David Whiteman Award as Outstanding District Secretary, in 2021, a Tablet of Honor presented by the Kiwanis Club of Lima, and David B. Gillespie Award 2017-2018 by Governor Dan Litzinger.

In addition to Kiwanis other volunteering endeavors included the Base Education Office while serving in the Air Force in Thailand by assisting Thai nationals in their English so they could be promoted. Community involvement included volunteering for Project Business in Bryan sponsored by Junior Achievement, the Allocations Committee of the United Way in Bryan and lima. He was also treasurer of the Greater Lima Charitable Foundation which sponsored the Futures Tour Golf Tournament. Over years he visited several local care facilities with his dog who was an unofficial therapy canine.

Community recognition included a Jefferson Award for community service in Allen County in 2015.

He served the Rocky River Presbyterian and First Presbyterian (Bryan) Churches as a deacon and was the treasurer of the First Presbyterian Church for most of the 1980’s.

He was an avid golfer, starting at the age of 13. He did have a hole-in-one on September 12, 1978. He also won club championships related to his handicap at the Aqua Marine Country Club in Avon Lake and Lost Creek Country Club in Lima. He was a loyal Ohio State Alum and Cleveland Indians fan.

Graveside and burial will be on Monday, January 19th at 11 a.m. at Lakeside Park Cemetery in Rocky River, Ohio.
