Robert Snodgrass

ROBERT D. SNODGRASS, 90, died at 11:15 a.m. April 3, 2005, at Heartland of Indian Lake Rehabilitation Center, Lakeview, Ohio, following an extended illness. He was born August 2, 1914, in Defiance, Ohio to Robert D. and Neva Durham Snodgrass, who preceded him in death. On July 22, 1934, he married Clotilda "Tillie" Forche, who survives in Lakeview, Ohio. Mr. Snodgrass retired in 1980 as a surveyor from the Ohio Department of Transportation. He had owned and operated Snodgrass Market, Beaverdam, Ohio, and had worked at Ford Motor Co. Lima Engine Plant. He had served as the mayor of Beaverdam, Ohio in the 1950s and 1960s. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370, Lima, Ohio, and the Lima Bowling Association. He had moved to Lima with his parents. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and team bowling. Survivors also include a son, Robert D. (Maureen) Snodgrass of Erlanger, entucky.; two sisters, Ruth (Bob) Brautigam and Reathel (Edwin) Weierman, both of Lima, Ohio; three grandchildren, Teresa (Brian) Palmer of Fayetteville, Robert (Diana) Snodgrass of Niceville, Florida, and Sharon Collinsworth of Dry Ridge, Kentucky; and five great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Snodgrass; and two sisters, Jane (Paul) Gilroy and Jean (Paul) Sneary. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Mark Burden will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home, where a FOE service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
