Rodney L. Wicker

Rodney L. Wicker, 88, passed away at 6:43 a.m. on Friday, March 22, 2024, at Mercy Health St. Rita’s in Lima. 

Rodney was born on February 4, 1936, in Knott County, KY, to the late Ballard and Minnie (Whitt) Wicker.  On March 9, 1957, he married Dorothy (Hunter) Wicker, who survives in Lima.

Rodney worked at Buckeye Rubber Products over 40 years before retiring.  He loved crossword puzzles and Kentucky basketball.  Most of all he loved spending time with family, especially his best buddy, his great-granddaughter, Autumn Long.

Along with his wife, he is survived by his three children: Vickie (Jerry) Martin, David (Lori) Wicker, and Randy (Bonnie) Wicker; six grandchildren: Daniel (Morgan Withrow) Martin, Josh (Abby Lamp) Wicker, Jeremy (Sara Blodgett) Martin, Tyler (Sarah) Wicker, Marissa Wicker, and Courtney Wicker; great-granddaughter, Autumn Long; and sister, Vonda Jean Martin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia Calhoun; and brothers, Forrest Wicker and John Larry Wicker.

The family will receive friends from 3 – 7 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2024, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio.  The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at the funeral home.  Chaplain Glory Geib will officiate.  Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to donor’s choice.
