Ronald L. Davis, 90, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Wyngate Senior Living Community.
Ron was born on August 15, 1935, in Lima, Ohio, to Arthur O. and Ella Elizabeth (Baumgarte) Davis. On June 21, 1958, he married Linda Sue (Place) Davis, who preceded him
in death on August 16, 2022.
Ron served in the U.S. Army in Panama from 1953 – 1956. He graduated from Ohio Northern University, Ada, Ohio with a Bachelor’s Degree. He was employed by the State of Ohio Department of Taxation as a Tax Commissioner Agent. As an avid golfer and formerly a member of Lost Creek Country Club, he had the pleasure of attending The Masters Golf Tournament. Ron was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lima. He was a volunteer at Lima Memorial Hospital and he was a 10 gallon Red Cross Blood Donor. He was a member of the YMCA and a lifetime member of the BPOE Elks. Ron had a hard work ethic. He enjoyed home repair, traveling and collecting antiques. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, working with and participating in their lives.
He is survived by his daughters, Danette (Robert) LaFollette and Cyndi (Jeff) Sprague; grandchildren: Andrew (Lauren) LaFollette, Ashley LaFollette, Abbey (Oliver) Horvath, Wesley (Abby) Sprague, Colin (Amanda) Sprague, and Ryan (Sandi) Sprague; great-grandchildren: Parker, Carson, Easton, Beck, Branch, Holden, Sullivan, Brody, Avery, Macey, Landon, Olton and Aiden; and sister, Mildred (Redmond) Wood.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Gossard and Geraldine Smith; and brothers: Donald Davis, Eugene Davis, Richard Davis, and Paul Davis.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Pastor John Foster will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation, Interim Hospice, or Trinity United Methodist Church.
