Ronald “Ron” Lynn Strange, 80, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
Ron was born on July 16, 1945, in Lima, Ohio; the cherished son of Leura (Lee) and Herbert Strange, who preceded him in death.
A graduate of Lima Senior High School, Ron went on to complete an apprenticeship as an industrial electrician, beginning a long and dedicated career. He spent twenty years with Continental Plastics before joining the Ford Motor Company in 1996, where he worked for twelve years until his retirement in 2008. Ron was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, the Eagles, and the Lima Model Railroad Club.
On September 24, 1976, Ron married the love of his life, Carol (Evans) Strange. Together with the support of their blended families, they built a beautiful life over 49 years of marriage. Their home became a beloved gathering place for family and friends, especially during Ohio State football season. Ron was a true Buckeye at heart, never happier than when cheering his team to victory.
Ron was a lifelong collector and hobbyist. He immersed himself fully in every interest: music, photography, model trains, golf, bowling, and cycling. He had a special love for cars, especially Corvettes, proudly owning two in his lifetime. Ron was also an adventurous and talented cook; finding joy in crafting new culinary creations, which were never duplicated, and sharing them with the people he loved.
Ron was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and dear friend to all who knew him. He was quick witted, and always ready with a joke or clever retort, bringing laughter and joy to every situation.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; six children: Pam (Mark) Tempson, Aaron (Jennifer) Strange, Mitch (Candy) Morse, Tami (Mike) Foley, Todd (Kelly) Baker, and Paul (Bernita) Baker; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren, his beloved dog, Mei Mei; and a loving extended family.
The family will receive friends from 3 – 6 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio, and from 12 – 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 14.
