Ross William Skaggs, 69, passed away peacefully into Glory at 9:37 a.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at his home in Ada.
Ross was born on November 20, 1954, in Circleville, Ohio, to George and Virginia (Dobbs) Skaggs. On March 30, 1992, he married Mickaleen “Mickki” Louise (Kissling) Skaggs, who survives in Ada.
Ross was an Occupational Safety Consultant in both the Lima area and internationally. He started his career on the BP Safety Team as an Industrial Fire Fighter and Trainer. Ross was a Godly man his entire life, always putting his relationship with Jesus first. He was a member of CrossPoint Community Church, where he was a Youth Mentor, Adult Sunday School Teacher, Worship Team Leader, Elder, and Prayer Warrior with many.
Ross had many hobbies. He was an avid hunter and marksman all of his life, as well as a musician, custom knifemaker, and blacksmith. After his heart transplant in 2009 he began singing and playing the guitar for donations to LifeLine of Ohio. He was known in this area as “The Tin Man”…He needed a heart, and God provided. Ross was a faithful and loving husband to his wife, Mickki, and an amazing father to Susie, Mark, and Rachel.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his stepson, Mark Alan Wildman; stepdaughter, Dr. Rachel (Brandon)Wildman-Dellos; granddaughters, Anna and Eleanora Dellos; brother-in-law, Ralph (Marcia) Howe; and nephew, Trevor (Jamie) Howe; lifelong best friend and weekly lunch buddy, George (Shirley) Wolf and family; close friend, who was like a big brother, Dr. Anthony (Barbara) Denisco and family; and fellow Road Warriors.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Susan Skaggs; and sister, Ann Howe.
The family will receive friends for a viewing from 2 – 8 p.m. on Monday, January 8, 2024, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, with visitation one hour prior to service, at CrossPoint Community Church, Lima, Ohio. Pastor Nick Veon will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CrossPoint Community Church, The Equestrian Therapy Program (Fassett Farm), or LifeLine of Ohio.
