Roy Willi Boop

Roy Willi Boop, 72, of Lima, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Shawnee Manor surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on August 1, 1951, in Bamberg, Germany to the late Charles and Irmigard {Nalezinski} Boop.

He married Deb Boop on November 15, 2016. Roy graduated from Lima Senior High School in 1969. He played Single A baseball for the Cincinnati Reds which was something he was highly proud of. He coached and umpired several kids’ baseball teams. If he ever saw a ball glove laying around anywhere, he always picked it up and gave it to a kid. He enjoyed retiring early and spent that time living life to the fullest. He collected sports memorabilia and loved dancing, casino gambling, and pull tabs. Roy was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #370 and was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Nolan (Colleen) Boop and Amy Boop; grandchildren, Miller James Boop and one on the way; sister, Delores (James) Bartlett; step-children, Rick (Shawn) Conaway and Jodi Hunt; step-grandchildren: Matthew Conaway, Ashley Conaway, Ashton Conaway, and Haley Hunt; step-great-grandchildren: Julian, Ryland, Michael, and one on the way; niece, Melissa (Greg) Bartlett; nephew, Scott (Tracy and her son Clayton) Bartlett; great-nephews, Trevor (Amanda) Dotson and Mason Dotson; sister-in-law, Shirlee (Doug, deceased) Shook Graham; and brother-in-law, Gary (Susie, deceased) Waddle.

His family will receive friends on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, from 3-5 p.m., with a funeral service following at 5 p.m. Chaplain Mark Lovely will officiate.  Eagles #370 tribute at end of the funeral service.
