Shirley Adams

SHIRLEY E. ADAMS,90, died at 6:44 a.m. August 14, 2004, at St. Rita's Medical Center. She was born March 9, 1914, in Rockford, Ohio to Samuel and Olive Tallman Shaffer, who preceded her in death. On September 9, 1935, she married Robert F. Adams, who died in 1973. Mrs. Adams worked as a beautician at her own shop. She was a member of Shawnee United Methodist Church. She was a 1932 graduate of Rockford High School and a 1933 graduate of Fredericks Beauty Academy, Lima. She was a licensed beautician owning her own shop. From 1947 to 1960, helped her husband build 16 homes in Shawnee Township. She volunteered at United Methodist Church bazaars and with the Red Cross. She was a member of the Herb and Craft clubs. She enjoyed family, traveling and working in her flower garden. Survivors include a daughter, Emily (Mickey) Miller of Lima, Ohio; three granddaughters, Apryl (Tony) Burtchin of Bellefontaine, Ohio, and Natalie Cannon and Lori Faccenda, both of Lima, Ohio; a grandson, Mark Adams Miller of Lima, Ohio; a granddaughter, Kathy (Randy) Chapman-Egolf of Powell, Ohio; eight great-grandchildren, Erika, Vanessa, Adam, Tiffany, Tatum, Cameron, Nicholas and Alexis; and two great-great-grandchildren, Mackenlie and Skye. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Chapman; a son-in-law, David M. Chapman; three brothers; and four sisters. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Rev. Bryan Bucher will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Rockford. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, St. Jude's or a charity of the donor's choice.
