SIMON PETER BRENNEMAN, 81, died at 10:20 p.m. February 9, 2005, at Lima Convalescent Home. He was born June 11, 1923, in Elida, Ohio to John M. and Anna G. Good Brenneman, who preceded him in death. On April 21, 1946, he married Jean Yant, who survives in Lima. Mr. Brenneman was an auctioneer for 50 years and had owned and operated Elida Auction Sales and Si Brenneman Real Estate. He had also worked for Mary Berry Real Estate and Lockwood Real Estate. He was also a masonry contractor and a farmer. He was a member of Lima Community Church of the Nazarene, where he enjoyed singing and taking part in the choir. For several years he portrayed Simon the Zealot in The Last Supper drama at Northside Mennonite Church. He was a member of the Lima Board of Realtors and the Ohio Auctioneers Association. He adored his grandchildren and prayed much for them. He loved to travel and play golf. He was an avid fan of the Detroit Lions and Tigers and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Survivors also include two sons, Thomas L. (Dorothy) Brenneman of Canby, Ore., and Dr. James (Sharon) Brenneman of Lima; two daughters, Sally (Dr. George) Oyer of Elida and Teresa "Tesa" Brenneman of Wapakoneta; a brother, Andrew (Ada) Brenneman of Elida; two sisters, Clara Kauffman of West Liberty and Luella (Wendell) Miller of Elida; seven grandchildren, Heather Brenneman, Kari (Dan) Ferguson, Aaron (Nicole) Brenneman, Abigail Oyer, Nicole Brenneman, Leah (Gideon) Foster and Anna Oyer; a great-grandchild, Madison; several nieces and nephews; and an extended family of exchange students, whom he enjoyed, Robin Garn of Germany, Nise Manicardi of Brazil and Atsko Amao of New York City. He was preceded in death by seven siblings, Blanche, Victor, Walter and Ralph Brenneman, Grace Yoder, and Fred and John Brenneman. Services will begin at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Dr. Wayne Sharpes and pastors Bobby Green and Dan Huckins will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Elida.
