Teresa "Terri" A. Dillhoff
65, of Elida, died at 3:50 PM on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at Roselawn Manor in Spencerville, Ohio.
Teresa was born on February 23, 1948, in Columbus, OH to the late Richard Henderson and Lucille (Neer) Leffel, who survives in Spencerville. Terri attended the University of Dayton, where she met Robert L. "Bob" Dillhoff at the dining hall. They married on Saturday, June 27, 1970, in Delphos, OH, and he preceded her in death on December 10, 2012.
Terri taught home economics at Allen East, and later, stayed home to raise her children. Her teaching didn't stop, though - she read stories to her children every day at home, and showed them how to bake the best chocolate chip cookies.
Terri also helped her husband build homes in the Elida area, including every house she and Bob lived in together. Terri sewed and painted and was a talented cook. She and Bob traveled regularly, and Terri especially liked eating out.
But more than anything else, Teresa's family was her life. She devoted herself to her children, never missing any marching band performance, award ceremony, soccer game, or dance recital. She made Halloween costumes and was good at mending things - including torn blue jeans, skinned knees, and even broken hearts. She exemplified the beauty of married life with her love for Bob. Terri was happiest when her family was simply together, talking. She was always ready with a laugh and everyone she knew benefited from her easy joy. Terri's friends and family sought her company because, simply put, she was a lot of fun.
Terri is survived by: a son, Matthew (Malisa) Dillhoff of Springboro, OH; a daughter, Megan Dillhoff of Hilliard, OH; a granddaughter, Charlotte Dillhoff; a brother, Roger (Jackie) Henderson, and a sister, Gayla Metzger, both of Spencerville, OH.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, December 08, 2013 and on Monday, December 9, 2013 from10:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, OH with Rev. Elaine Mikesell officiating.
During visitation hours, Terri's family will collect donations of new children's clothing to benefit Heartbeat of Lima. Monetary donations may be directed to St. Rita's Hospice.
