THELMA E. CRIDER GRASS, 96, died at 8 a.m. March 25, 2005, at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home. She was born May 6, 1908, in Lima, Ohio to George F. and Gertrude Barnhart Murphy, who preceded her in death. In 1925, she married L. Gerald "Jerry" Crider, who died in 1967. In 1970, she married James F. Grass, who died in 1978. Mrs. Grass had been a member of Lima Central Christian Church since 1921. She had volunteered at St. Rita's Medical Center for 10 years. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Bowling League. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Wanda Crider of Lima, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Betty Jean Whitley of Lima, Ohio; three half sisters; two half brothers; three grandchildren, Kathy (Mike) Freed of Lima, Ohio, Michael (Robin) Crider of Michigan and Brent Crider; and seven step grandchildren, nine step great-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, James E. Crider and John G. Crider; and a stepson, James Grass Jr. Services will begin at 2 p.m. today at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Mark Tisch will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until time of services today at the funeral home.
