Thomas F. Fenton Sr.

Thomas F. Fenton Sr., 87, formerly of Lima, passed away at 2:06 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at the Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN.

Thomas was born on December 29, 1933, in Findlay, Ohio, to the late Gladys Mae (Fickle) and John B. Fenton.  On October 19, 1957 he married Barbara Ellen (Moyer) Fenton who preceded him in death on October 2, 2002.

Thomas was a graduate of Lima Central High and a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church.  He retired from Ford Motor Company after 36 years.

He is survived by his significant other, Carol “Baby” Kohl of Lima; three sons: Thomas (Patti Garcia) Fenton Jr. of Denver, CO; Scott Fenton of Longmont, CO; Todd Fenton of Lima; daughter, Deborah Grothaus of Roanoke, IN; six grandchildren: Jessica (Mike) Zoretich,  Jason (Tracey) Grothaus,  Chad (Christi Kuhn) Grothaus, Maria Fenton, Sarah Fenton, and Chasity Boedecker; seven great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn Ferree, Jakob Ferree, Elliana Zoretich, Talyn Kumfer, Emma Grothaus, Dallas Martin and Emiley Martin; several nieces and nephews; and his canine buddy, Angelo.

Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Rick Fenton; sisters, Ruthanne Dahil and Rosemary Topp.

The family will receive friends from 10 – 11 a.m. on Monday, February 1, 2021 at St. Gerard Catholic Church.  The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m.  Father Paul Mathew will officiate.  Burial will be at Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima, OH.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors or the American Cancer Society.
