Thomas Parks

THOMAS L. PARKS, 61, died at 2:01 p.m. March 29, 2005, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born Aug. 27, 1943, in Akron to Olis Edward and Ouida Whitney Parks, who preceded him in death. On April 21, 1979, he married Marilyn "Max" Axe, who survives in Ohio City. Mr. Parks retired from Strick Corp., Monroe, Ind. He had also worked at Fisher Cheese, Van Wert, and Clark Equipment, Lima. He was a Navy veteran serving from July 23, 1963, to July 22, 1965. He was an avid motorcycle and boating enthusiast. Survivors also include a son, Michael (Valarie Riggs) Parks of Van Wert; two daughters, Theresa Parks and Tara Parks, both at home; a brother, Robert (Joan) Parks of Willis, Texas; four sisters, Joyce (Mick) Hall of Columbus, Joann (Mike) Beerman of Newark, Jeannie Keil of Marion and Shirley (Harold) Goodwin of Lima; three grandchildren, Jesse Parks, Brandon Decker and Eliza Shaner; and two stepgranddaughters, Erica and Katlin. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Kenny VanHoose will officiate. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
