Tilmond Barnett Sanders Jr.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father; Tilmond Barnett Sanders Jr., who peacefully departed to be with the Lord on April 2, 2024, around 12:12pm, at Mercy Health Hospital.

Born on August 12, 1954, in Memphis, Tennessee, Tilmond was the cherished son of Johnnie Mae Qualls and Tilmond Barnett Sanders Sr., both of whom he joins in eternal rest. Tilmond proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was awarded the Purple Heart of Valor in service protecting President Nixon.

Tilmond held deep affection and love for his family and loyalty to his friends. 

Tilmond's memory will forever remain in the hearts of his daughters: Sherlina Ramsey (Mr. Andre Ramsey) of Surprise, Arizona; Latreva Sanders of Lima, Ohio; Tabeta Jones of Detroit, Michigan; Dr. Cortesha Cowan (Mr. Adrian Cowan) of Atlanta, Georgia; Christian Dionne Sanders-Lawrence (Mr. Jamie Lawrence) of Columbus, Ohio; and Brittany Sanders of Columbus, Ohio and a son, Elmer “Emo” Haywood of Lima, Ohio 

He is survived by his brothers, Marvel L. Sanders and Henry Brown; sister, Grace Owens; special niece, Aisha Sanders, and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom he cherished dearly.

In addition to his parents, Tilmond was preceded in death by his sister, Stephanie Sanders and grandson, D 'Angel Lawrence. Though he may have departed this earthly realm, his love, kindness, and legacy will continue to resonate within the hearts of all who knew him.
