Vincent F. Karhoff, 96, passed away at 8:15 a.m. on August 8, 2022, at Wyngate Senior Living Community.
He was born on May 11, 1926 in Kalida, Ohio, to Henry and Lucy (Ellerbrock) Karhoff.
Vincent attended Kalida High School. On June 2, 1951 he married Genevieve Hellman who died on June 17, 2021. They were married 70 years.
Vincent served in the Army from 1944 to 1947 in the Southwest Pacific with the American Infantry Division. He was a member of the VFW Post 6772, Spencerville. He retired from Ford Motor Company and was a member of UAW Local 1219. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, Lima.
Survivors include six children, Marsha of Irvine, CA, Gayle (Dale) Schild of Cincinnati, Sandra (Randy) Bindel of Cridersville, Alan of Brecksville, Mary Jo (Kevin) Moots of Lima and Daniel (Deb) of Canal Winchester; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers: Lawrence, Amos, Neil, and Raymond, sisters Frances Karhoff, Adelia Schmitz, Lucinda Wehri, Rita Elwer, Emma Becker, and Marcella Karhoff and two grandchildren.
A mass of Christian burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 12, 2022, at St. Charles Catholic Church. Father Kent Kaufman will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima, Ohio.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 12, 2022 at St. Charles Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Coalition for Homeless Veterans.
