Wilbur Myers

Wilbur H. Myers, 95, passed away at 3:17 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at St. Rita’s Hospital.

Wilbur was born in Lima, Ohio on May 7, 1927. He was adopted from the Allen County Children’s Home in 1931 at the age of 4 by Dr. Herbert and Laura Mae Myers of Lima.

He is survived by his son, Robert (Vivian) Myers and daughter, Elizabeth (Brian) Bell; step-daughter, Cathy Basinger; nine grandchildren: Meredith (David Harrison) Bell, Morgan (Guy) Andrews, Ryan Myers, Melissa Myers, Nicole (Dan) Reichelderfer, Alex (Erin) Pence, Joe (Erin) Pence, Jamie (Deana) Basinger and Bill Basinger; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife,  Julie (Basinger) Myers, who he married in 1972; and his stepson, Craig Basinger; and his stepdaughter, Chrys Pence.

After graduation from Central High School in 1945 he served in the U.S. Navy.  He loved his life-long occupation as a Certified Dental Technician and owner of Myers Dental Laboratory, retiring at 74.

His many interests included the outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing, boating, water skiing, music and dancing. He especially loved his classic Studebakers.

He was a life member of the VFW, American Legion, Elks, Eagles and the Police Auxiliary.

Wilbur and Julie especially enjoyed many years at their Indian Lake Cottage with family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio.  A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.  Rev. Wanda Werking will officiate.  Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Deb’s Dogs or donor’s choice.
