William “Brett” Lewis, age 64, of Lima, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 20, 2025, at home in his bed.
He can be remembered for his love of sports and astonishing statistical knowledge of facts and figures of teams and athletes as well as his love of friends and family.
He was a graduate of Marysville Ohio High School Class of 1979. Brett also attended THE Ohio State University. Early in his career, he taught at Ohio State University - Lima campus.
Brett loved his job as a Machinist & Millwright at the refinery while working for an On-Site Contractor. While there for many years he proved himself to not only be an asset, but also a valuable friend to those that he worked with.
Brett was born on March 5,1961, in Columbus, Ohio, to Janet May Kelley and the late Price W. Lewis. He was preceded by his maternal grandparents, Mearl & Evelyn (Leatherman) May; his aunt, Joyce (Gast) Clark; and cousin, Michael Gast.
He is survived by his mother, Janet (Edward) Kelley; sister, Teresa Dee (Jay) Amburgey; nieces, Megan (Nathan) Caldwell and her children: Quinn, Kit, and Cameron, and Taylor (Landon) Renard; cousins: Lynn (John) Siciliano, Steve (Millie) Gast, Tommie (Nickie) Gast, and Jeff (Sue) Gast; treasured friends, Duffy Moseley and Brent Harmon.
At his written request there will be no visitation or service. A private ‘Celebration of Life’ will be held in the future for family only.
Brett did not agree with extravagances, notoriety, or money being sent far from home. If anyone wishes to make memorials in his honor, you may make them in his name to your local humane society, food bank, or homeless mission.
Brett’s message to all: “Tip one back for me and enjoy your journey.”
