William McLaughlin

William F. McLaughlin Jr., 91, passed away at 12:05 p.m. on December 31, 2022, at The Springs of Lima.

William was born on July 30, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York, to William F. and Edna Mae (Innes) McLaughlin. On March 20, 1954 he married Shirley (Painter) McLaughlin who survives in Lima.

William was a graduate from Central High School where he excelled in track and field. He served four years in the United States Navy and retired from Superior Coaches after 48 years of service. He loved his great grandkids. He also loved the Dodgers and Notre Dame, and was an avid reader of western novels.

He is survived by his wife Shirley McLaughlin; children, Barbara Starr, Julie Treece, and Keith McLaughlin; grandchildren, Kaitlynn (Edward) Parker, Michael (Nicole Meeker) Starr, Megan (Kile Simpson) Starr; great-grandchildren, Boston Starr, Keigan Simpson, and Emma Parker; sister-in-laws, Delores Rhodes, Mary Painter, and Nancy Eagy; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents as a young child; and aunt and uncle who raised him, Willie and Jennie Haspel; son-in-law Curtis Treece; two sisters, several brothers and sister-in-laws; and nieces and nephews.

Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rev. Richard Hart will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital or Veteran Foreign War.
