David Edwards

David Edwards, 61, passed away at 6:29 p.m. on October 3, 2021, at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center.  David was born on June 5, 1960, in Lima, Ohio, to Major Edwards Jr. and Cennie (Brown) Warthem.

David went to Apollo for truck driving and was an RTA driver.  He was the business owner of Edward’s Media Group. David was a U.S. Army Veteran and liked fishing, barbecuing, golfing and gardening.

He is survived by his mother, Cennie Warthem; fiancé, Londa Ellis; children: Xavier Lawson, Londayesha Edwards, Davre’Uan Edwards, and Zy’Eral Edwards; twenty eight grandchildren; twenty one great-grandchildren; two godchildren, Darreal Wright and Arthur Wright Jr.; two paternal step-grandmothers, Thelma and Ethel Edwards; siblings: Pamala (Larry) Neal, Darrin (Bridgett) Buxton, Janice Thomas, Brian (Tara) Buxton, Kevin Chitman, Lisa Denson, Garrick Warthem, Lamont Nathan, Christopher Warthem, Daniel Edwards, and Tina Harris; and a host of stepchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.

He was preceded in death by his father; a stepson, Albert Gordon; a sister, Cathy Carter; paternal grandfather, Major Edwards Sr., maternal grandparents, Genie and Winnie Brown; brother-in-law, John Thomas Jr.; and stepfather, Rudolph Warthem

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday October 8, 2021 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Rev. Bruce Monfort will officiate.  Burial will be at Dayton National Cemetery in Dayton, Oh. 4400 W. Third St, Dayton, OH 45428, Tuesday October 12, 2021 at 1 p.m.
