Hugh “Ed” Swint, 88, passed away at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Lima Memorial Health System. Hugh was born on May 5, 1933, in Morgan County, TN, to the late Hugh and Anna (Hamby) Swint Sr.
Hugh served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked at Superior Coach for 29 years and at U.S. Plastic Corp for 13 years. He attended The Bridge Church and was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles #370 and the American Legion #96. Hugh loved traveling, NASCAR and sporting events, live bands, country music and dancing. He also enjoyed playing cards (Five Crowns) with his friends on Friday nights.
He is survived by his daughters: Rita (Fred) Stapleton of Hamilton, OH; Stefanie (Robert Drummond) Swint of Cleveland, OH; daughter-in-law, Mary Swint of Lima; stepson, John (Pamela) Cavinder of Harrod; grandchildren: Jeremy Swint, Joshua Swint, Jessie Stapleton, Daniel Stapleton and Nathan Stapleton; great-grandchild, Karter Chesnut; twelve surviving brothers and sisters; and loving companion, Sue John of Lima.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, James and Terry Swint; stepdaughter, Alana Foust; an infant granddaughter, Imara Swint; one brother and one sister.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Pastor Terry Brock will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Graveside Military Honors will be conducted by VFW Post #1275
The family respectfully requests that all visitors wear masks and follow Covid protocols.
