James D. Geise

James D. Geise, 91, passed away at 9:57 a.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center.

James was born on July 26, 1930, in Delphos, Ohio, to the late Edward & Hilda (Laudick) Geise.  On May 25, 1957 he married Barbara (McNamara) Geise who survives in Elida, Ohio.

James served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  He was a retired foreman and crane operator for Stedke Construction.   James was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church, Ohio Operating Engineers, and Knights of Columbus.  He enjoyed going to Happy Daz for breakfast, reading and chocolate chip cookies.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his brothers: Thomas Geise of Colorado, Roger Geise and Charles (Eileen) Geise both of Delphos; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; son Jeffrey J. Geise; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Margaret Geise and sister-in-law, Celeste Geise.

The Memorial Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at St. Gerard Catholic Church with Military Honors conducted by VFW Post #1275.  Father Mike Sergi will officiate.  A private entombment of ashes will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Veteran’s Food Pantry in his honor.
