Janet Louis Kazee

Janet Louis Kazee, 85, passed away at 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2023.

Janet was born on March 17, 1938, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to Carl J. and Ruth (Naylor) Byrd.  On October 4, 1965, she married James Kazee, who preceded her in death on December 11, 2009.

She taught voice lessons and arranged music.  She was an Executive Assistant and managed a drugstore.  Janet was very involved with her family.

She is survived by her daughters: Carlena (William) Taylor, Liese (Glen) Morris, Jayme (Mark) Davis, and Jeri (Thomas) Casey; son, Joseph (Mitzi) Newman; stepson, Michael (Jan) Kazee; son-in-law, Jerry Roberts; nineteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Frank Byrd.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Robin Roberts, and grandson, Benjamin Joseph Newman.

Janet’s greatest desire would be for every person she has ever known, to hear and believe the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.  “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life; and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”  John 3:36.

The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio.  A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m.  Pastor Jerry Martin will officiate.  Burial will be at a later date in Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
