Lois M. Askins, 95, passed away at 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 26, 2020, at Elmcroft Assisted Living Center in Lima. 

Lois was born on September 19, 1925, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Fredrick A. and Rosa Ellen (Flory) Miller.  In 1941 she married William M. Askins who preceded her in death on August 6, 1947. 

Lois went to school in Gomer, Ohio.  Her first job was working in a tomato factory, staking cans in boxes, and she later became a nurse at Lima Memorial Hospital and St. Rita’s Medical Center; retiring from St. Rita’s.  She has fond memories of swimming in the creek on the farm and going to Indian Lake. She loved to roller skate, play volleyball and has always loved square dancing.  Lois was a regular at the Lima Eagles #370 for many years, where she made many friends.  She also enjoyed going on Sunday drives for picnics with her family and friends.  Everyone enjoyed Lois’ company and sense of humor.

She is survived by her daughter, Doris June Stoner; son, William David “Bill” (Pamela) Askins; grandchildren: T. Alan Stoner, Kelly (Rodney) Compton, David (Candy) Askins and Lori (Aaron) Crider; twelve great-grandchildren and counting; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; siblings: Elbert, Sarah, Bernice and Nina; also grand-daughter-in-law, Robin Stoner.

The family will have a private viewing from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.   The private Funeral Service will follow at 10:30 a.m.  Rev. Larry Molaski will officiate.   Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Elida, OH.

Memorial contributions may be made to Johnny Apple Seed Parks.
