Luella March Reed

Luella March Reed,

95, passed away at 10:44 a.m. on Thursday, April 8, 2021, at The Meadows of Delphos. Luella was born on July 28, 1925, in Scottdale, Pennsylvania, to the late Porter Sr. and Deanna (Jacob) March. On August 22, 1962, she married Wellington Reed, who preceded her in death on May 26, 1990.

Luella was a Life-Time member of St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in Lima and also a member of The Order of The Eastern Star Cyrene Chapter No. 31. She was educated in the Segregated schools of Georgia and love learning. She was an elegant, stylish and joyful woman. She worked as a cook and enjoyed crocheting and baking. She loved music and to laugh. She also loved to dance to the music she loved. Luella was a great teller of stories about growing up in times much different from today.

She is survived by her daughters: Forastene Bailey, of Boston, MA, Joyce (Hafiz) Johnson-Shabazz of Thetford Center, VT, and Elnora Farmer of Sandy Springs, GA; 5 grandchildren, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a daughter, Sally Bailey; a brother, Porter March Jr. and grandson, Christopher Allen Bailey.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.  The funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, April 16, 2021 at the funeral home, followed by the Graveside Internment at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, Ohio. Presiding Minister, Rev. John E. Kidd.
