44, died Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio.

Monica was born on Monday, March 7, 1977, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Jesus Cortez and her mother Dolores (Lopez) Cortez who survives. On Saturday, October 31, 2015, she married Krystalyn [Hoskins] Cortez who survives.

Monica had worked at the Beer Barrell and several other area restaurants. She also worked at International Brake Industries where she also served as a union representative. She loved the Pittsburg Steelers and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

She is survived by three sons, Justin Cortez, of Cincinnati, Brandon Krieg, of St. Mary's, OH, Joshua Krieg, of Celina, OH; three grandchildren; two brothers, Juan (Christina) Cortez, of Cridersville, OH and Jaime Cortez, of Lima, OH; a sister, Martha (Rusty) Hill, of Lima, OH, several niece & nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Friday, June 18, 2021 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.

A funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM.  Father Paul Mathew will officiate.

Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima, Ohio.
