Rudolph A Segovia ( Rudy), died Sunday, November 28, 2021 at 3:45 p.m. at home with family. He was born to Reynaldo Segovia and Leonor Hernandez Segovia on November 20, 1926 in Austin, Texas.

On January 1, 1956 he married Lavonne C. Osmon who survives along with daughters: Mary (Wayne) Frantz, Cheryl (Paul) Vagts, Lynnita (TR) Knoch; sons: Bruce (Tammy) Segovia and Ralph (Ronica) Segovia; grandchildren: Wendie (Brian) Kienutske, Meranda (Eric) Larson, Tanya (Andrew) Johnson, Brandy (David) Winston, Kyle Hammond, David (Mallory) Segovia, John Segovia, David, James Knoch, D’Anne Knoch, Aaron Bowshier, Noah, Logan, Brandon, James, Evan, Azlan, Lance, Connor and Lucas Segovia.  There are also 13 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

Rudy was proceeded in death by his parents; sister, Catalina Herrera; brothers: Reynaldo Jr, Juan, Victor, and Erby Segovia; nephews: Victor Segovia, Michael Segovia and Cruzito Herrera; and grandson, Eric Hammond.

He moved to Ohio as a teenager and graduated from South High School in Lima. He served in the army in World War II as a technician 5th grade, 795th Military Police Battalion. He served in the Pacific arena and Philippine islands. He was awarded the Philippine Independence Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star, Good Conduct Medal and Asiatic Pacific Campaign Metal and a World War II Victory Medal.

He worked in Warren, Pennsylvania as a mechanic on large trucks for approximately five years. He moved to Lima where he worked at various auto dealerships as a mechanic specializing in electronics.  Rudy’s final job before he retired was an instructor at Ohio Northwestern business college teaching chassis electricity of cars in their automotive department.

He was an active member of Elida St. Pauls United Methodist Church since 1961. He and his wife enjoyed square dancing with the Susie Q’s Square Dance Club. He was an avid ham radio operator, enjoyed the bowling league and playing cards, especially Eucher with his family, and his passion was gardening.

The family will receive friends from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Elida, with visitation 1 hour prior to service. Rev. Paul Scannell will officiate. Burial will follow at Salem Westminster Cemetery, Westminster, OH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church or donor’s choice.
