Susan A Powell

Susan A. Powell, 81, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at The Springs of Lima.

Susan was born on July 19, 1942, in Spencerville, Ohio to William and Oliva (Stelzer) McDonough. On October 14, 1967, she married James N. Powell who survives in Lima.

Sue and Jim shared 56 years of great marriage. She enjoyed her family, her brothers, sisters, kids, and grandkids. Sue was always supportive of her kids and grandkids. She also supported numerous families through childcare for many decades. Sue was loyal, hardworking, supportive, and happy. She and Jim enjoyed many winters in Florida. Sue was a parishioner at St. Gerards Church, and she had an unwavering faith.  Sue lived a Cursillo weekend in 1997.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Powell; sons, Doug (Laurie) Powell of Sylvania, OH, Brian Powell of Columbus, OH, and Craig (Natalie) Powell of Hillard, OH; and grandchildren, Ashley, Courtney, Brandon, Caden, and Rhys Powell; siblings, James McDonough, William McDonough, Helen Lenhart, Sarah (Don) Baldauf, Charles McDonough, Elaine (Mike) Schimmoeller; and Maureen (Dave) Wright; sister-in-laws, Sister Myriam Powell, SND, and JoAnn (John) Kuhlman.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 26, 2023, with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio.  A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 27, 2023, at St. Gerards Catholic Church.  Father Mike Sergi will officiate. Burial will follow at St. John’s Resurrection Cemetery, Delphos, Ohio.
